Schooner Monreith was built in Port William in 1880 and was wrecked off the coast of Nun Mill Bay (Dhoon Bay) Carrying a consignment of granite from Newcastle, County Down to Silloth in late 1900, the 2 mast boat reportedly sought shelter in Kirkcudbright Bay during a storm but in low tide it was soon banked in the sand.
